Naomi
Lawrence graduated in 2004 with a foundation degree in Professional
Garden Design. During that summer she also did a show garden
at Hampton Court Palace show and was awarded a Silver Medal. Her
garden was entitled “Wildlife
Planting in a modern garden”, and was shown on TV with Dermot Gavin
and Charlie Dimmock stood in her garden presenting their show.
Within her garden was a mosaic rill, galvanised steel pathways,
a bird hotel and lots of flowers that attracted pollen loving insects.
Whilst at the show her garden attracted Dragonflies, bees, wasps
and a host of birds.
Following on the success of that show, she has set up her own business
and is offering a design service as well as garden maintenance. She
has been given a grant by the Princes Trust and is a member of WIRE
(woman in rural enterprises). Her design service offers the full range
of services, from initial surveys, full colour drawings, planting plans,
also a planting service where she will source and supply the plants
required, and where requested a regular visit to maintain the newly
laid out garden.
Her portfolio contains commissions from a wide variety of clients.
e.g.
She
has redesigned the gardens of a holiday letting complex, did all
the landscaping, planting up etc.
She was involved in redesigning an old orchard for a
new build that was put on the market, with her designs being included
with the sale particulars – it is well documented that a well designed
garden enhances the value of a property and aids a quick sale.
She has designed
gardens for people with listed properties and listed garden walls,
the challenges are greater but this is something that Naomi thrives
on.
A client that
had a studio at the bottom of their garden, wanted a wildlife garden
and she was able to redesign the existing garden and incorporate
a low maintenance garden for them to enjoy from the studio.
